We offer a full restoration service for original art work.
Oil paintings, can be restored and conserved according to their condition. This may mean removing old varnish, cleaning, revarnishing and reframing in its simplest form, or may be far more complex where the painting is damaged in any way.
No two paintings are ever the same , but in principle, where a paintng shows signs of damage, ie: tears, holes, flaking paint, cracking etc. We would recommend that we line the painting ( often wrongly called relining) This involves wax resin bonding the damaged canvas to new canvas. Any damaged area can then be repaired and retouched. This process stabalises the structure of the paint and the ground, and benefits almost all paintings showing signs of age.
Old stretchers can be refurbished and reused where possible or replaced with new.
We also restore frames, including remodelling, filling, rejoining, bracing, gilding and finishing.
Collection and delivery can be arranged.
